Part Time Town Warden



Midsomer Norton Town Council has recently acquired green spaces for the benefit of the town and wishes to recruit a Town Warden. This new post will mainly involve working outside around the town, maintaining and managing the Council’s land and property.  The role will also include keeping the town clean and tidy including trimming vegetation, weeding, maintaining paths and litter picking. Some basic IT skills will be required to enable reporting of issues to B&NES Council and other Landowners by e mail and keeping various records.

The successful applicant will report to the Town Clerk and should be a self-starter who can work during all weathers on their own but also flexibly as part of the Council team.  Some experience in similar grounds work is highly desirable.  Some training will be provided as will some protective clothing and equipment.

Working hours will be 24 hours per week to be worked over 3 full days, 08:00 – 16:30, days to be decided.

Salary –£12,480pa rising to £13,728pa depending on experience.  The successful applicant will be eligible to join the Local Government Pension Scheme and the post is subject to the National Terms and Conditions agreement.

Completed application forms must be received by 5pm on Friday 11th May 2018.  Interviews will be held in late May 2018 and the successful applicant will be expected to start late June 2018.
