Community Space Grant

Midsomer Norton Town Council have awarded a grant of £5,000 towards the exciting project to refurbish the community space outside the leisure centre at Gullock Tyning.

The project includes, amongst other things, replacing the old play equipment, a green space for sustainable agriculture, new picnic tables and a table-tennis table, gifted by the Town Council.  The Town Council hope this wonderful new community space will become a real attraction for residents and visitors alike with the Leisure Centre also providing toilet facilities to the public.

Just along the road is the wonderful new Town Park including a sensory garden and impressive amphitheatre which hosted the Jubilee Music Festival last year and the recent Midsomer Norton Wassail.  Another music event, the Midsomer Norton Music Festival, is planned for the summer on June 3rd.

The more reasons there are to visit the town, the more footfall is driven to the High Street.  It’s really important to get as many people as possible, out supporting our shops, cafes, restaurants, markets and events.

In addition to Town Council funding, the £167,755 community space project received grants from the National Lottery, Bath and North East Council Community Levy, Dragonfly Leisure and the Food Forest Project.
