Cricket Club All Stars Opening Night

The All Stars Youths Cricket at Midsomer Norton Cricket Club dazzled on a special evening to support a county-high turnout.

Over 70 children have enrolled in this year’s sell-out programme which meant a huge crowd turned out at the Withies Lane ground. Both the bar and barbecue were in full swing catering to family and friends as the children played in the field.

Midsomer Norton has one of the most successful All Stars initiatives in the county having run for several years. Newly elected Deputy Mayor of Midsomer Norton, Cllr Gordon Mackay, whose three children have all played in the All Stars, was on hand to congratulate Jenny Webb, youth organiser and coach. Jenny has also pioneered, and plays for, a thriving ladies cricket section at the club.

The popular sports facility benefits from a recently refurbished clubhouse and new pavilion which was funded with assistance from the Town Council. As well as cricket, the club runs live music events and will, this year, host its second Oldfield Festival on the 28th August with band Scouting for Girls headlining.
