Midsomer Norton Fayre

The return of Midsomer Norton Fayre was a huge success as thousands of local residents enjoyed a range of activities in the sun last Saturday.

As is tradition, the Fayre kicked off outside the Somer Centre with children from across seven local schools competing in the Maypole Festival. Activities then continued in and around the skatepark – with entertainment ranging from fascinated audiences in the amphitheatre watching local folk musicians to screaming children enjoying Punch & Judy and balloon modelling.

Other activities included bouncy castles, inflatable tennis, a popular drumming workshop, craft workshops, games for the family as well as stalls from 30 local crafters, community groups and traders. The return of the Town Show celebrated local creativity with entries across a range of categories.

Meanwhile in the Skatepark a mix of skateboard, bike, scooter and graffiti competitions returned and added another dimension to the Fayre and vintage buses took revellers from the Town Park to the local Railway Station.

“A huge thanks must go to all the volunteers, sponsors, staff and attendees from across the local community who came together to create such a vibrant and varied afternoon” said Alex Davis, the manager of the Midsomer Norton Community Trust. “It’s been a difficult couple of years for the volunteers with so much being cancelled, so it was third time lucky and it was great to see so many people having fun”

The event was organised by the Midsomer Norton Community Trust and sponsored by Midsomer Norton Town Council. Organisers are already looking ahead to next year’s event which will take place on Saturday 8th July 2023.
