New Street Marshal Contract

Midsomer Norton is a very much a community-based town and benefits from very low levels of crime. In order to encourage our evening economy and ensure residents feel safe when enjoying our lively night-life, Midsomer Norton Town Council introduced Street Marshals in January 2012 with the previous contract going to RS Security in 2015.

That contract expired in March 2021 and due to the public procurement rules the council resolved to compete the tender. The tender was advertised accordingly resulting in several firms submitting high quality tenders. The tenders were scored and the results were presented to council who then formally agreed to award the contract to Midas, an established security firm based in Bath.

The outgoing firm RS security were thanked for their service over the years and a welcome meeting was held with Midas as the new contract holders.

With over 25% of the supervisors being female, Midas have one of the biggest female employment ratios in the security sector for the whole of England. All the Marshals hold the relevant Home Office and SIA accredited licences as well as qualifications from across a multitude of areas.

The marshals will be on duty every Friday and Saturday night patrolling the town centre area to offer assistance and provide peace of mind to residents and visitors to Midsomer Norton.

The contract runs for 3 years until June 2025.
