Somer Valley Links – Project Update

Dear Residents,

We’re writing to give you an update on the Somer Valley Links project, which covers sustainable travel choices between Midsomer Norton, Westfield and Radstock and Bath / Bristol along the A37, A362 and A367.

In our last email, we let you know that the report outlining the results of the engagement, which took place in the summer last year, was published in December 2023.

We were pleased that so many people took the time to participate and most of the elements were supported by many residents.

Following this, we’ve been analysing the feedback from the engagement and starting some of the background technical work including transport modelling, journey time analysis for both buses and cars, and looking how the proposals impact on the reliability of buses.

This has enabled us to identify some initial potential changes to the design of the project. These are being investigated at present, and this does not preclude any further changes based on the results of the ongoing technical work.

These are outlined in our “Outline Business Case” (Open here – section 2.16, page 61 for full information) which was presented to the West of England Combined Authority Committee last week. The Outline Business Case was approved by the Committee which allows the project to move to the next stage.

Going forward, with continued support from the West of England Combined Authority, the project will be delivered by Bath & North East Somerset Council – who will keep you updated as the project progresses.

Somer Valley Links Project team.
